Is Sammy on the right track? Or he needs more help?

VIC DEL PILAR
Mindanao Monitor

The operations of the new commercial establishments in this city, this week created a lot of fuzz among our people especially with the opening of the Best Emporium. As its doors were opened to the public and media last Sunday, one cannot just help, but exclaimed to his amazement saying, Oh my God, now I can believe Pagadian City is indeed the newest bustling city in the south.

What more if the Gaisano Capital mall, which is now also preparing for its take off next week side by side with the new JRC grand hotel and restaurant that are simultaneously scheduled to open for business on Dec. 8, 2008. These are among the new business frontiers for shoppers and travelers in this city and nearby towns. The new Gaisano mall is located along Rizal Avenue rumored to be the biggest in the entire Mindanao is now here to stay. A one-stop-shop for every well-meaning Filipino of our time who deserves a royal treatment while shopping inside a fully centralized airconditioned edifice. On the part of the JRC grand hotel and restaurant is a new hideaway for local and national travelers who are coming to this city for both business and official functions. What more if by that time hopefully the city airport becomes operational? What do you think? Is Mayor Sammy fair? Or poor? On the part of JRC hotel, it is a 4-storey building with 30 cozy rooms, equipped with the state of the art air conditioning units, cable television, internet ready rooms, etc along with a restaurant catering local and oriental cuisine to clients. The new hotel is owned and managed by couple Sergio, Jr and Merlyn Secretario of this city. This new tourist haven is located at New Tudela St., San Pedro District, only a ride away distance from the main thoroughfare, and you will be right there.

With this development we can surmise Mayor Co is all smile. One cannot help imagining him grinning wide, even wider than Illana Bay because at least it was only during his administration that everyone can quantify that indeed progress has come to Pagadian City. This is an indisputable matter. Other mayors too in the past have dreamed of what the city had achieved today. Sad to say however, they only ended up mentally masturbating. They may have succeeded in some aspects, but hasn’t surpassed what the city had achieved these days. And that’s for us to say without fear of contradiction. After all, Sammy is not an angel. He has his lapses and failures. As a matter of fact he has yet to explain to the people of the city the alleged anomalous distribution of agora stalls, as people are claiming. But for such an achievement happening before everybody’s eyes, I feel he deserves our congratulations and accolades. There is no gainsaying however that not only with his strong determination and iron-like will that propelled the transfer of the seat of the region in this part of the globe. That he did for good. That includes the development of our city skylines. Just what the Gaisanos and other business titans are doing right now in this city. What the mayor lacks today is an effective arm that could assist him evolves a revenue code that can truly make our people happy amidst the threatening global crisis.
