Police, military attend legal offensive seminar


GUIPOS, ZAMBOSUR—A joint AFP–PNP Legal Offensive Seminar was recently held at Guipos Cave Resort, June 23, with the 53rd Infantry (MATAPAT) Battalion as host and facilitator.

Major Samuel Gayongorsa heads the 53rd IB.

The one day seminar was participated by the chiefs of police from District II municipalities, the military, OG2, 1MIB, Division JAGO, 102nd IB, Charlie and Delta CADRE companies and members of the 53rd IB.

Gayongorsa said this innovative approach is needed to develop further the intent of the Inter-Agency Legal Advocacy Group (IALAG) as he foresees the need for better cooperation among stakeholders and strengthen the legal aspect to complement the unit offensive operations against the CPP-NPA-NDF.

Seminar director 1Lt Arthur Eamiguel invited guest speakers from the PNP Provincial Crime Laboratory, PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Team, and the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, to discuss topics on Crime Scene Investigation, Basic Investigation Procedures, Writ of Amparo and Writ of Habeas Data.

Guipos Mayor Francisco Oraiz Jr. and PNP Provincial Directro P/SSupt. Ramon Ochotorena also gave their talks.

Oraiz expressed optimism that the armed forces and the police would try their best to improve teamwork in addressing counter-insurgency operations in his town so that development and livelihood will be savored by residents. PR
