JICA ‘08 training program for youth is on


THE 2008 Training Program for Young Leaders (TPYL) is now opened for qualified applicants who will first undergo extensive selection procedures to be conducted by the Government of Japan (GOJ) through the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The GOJ will conduct the training program under its technical cooperation scheme to promote human resource development in the Philippines.

Five categories are available with their corresponding duration in Japan and JICA centers. These are: Economic Development (Sept. 10-27) at Hokuriko International Center; Legal and Judicial System (Sept. 24-Oct. 10) at Tokyo International Center; Health and Medical Service (Oct. 13-30) at Tokyo International Center; Information and Communication Technology (Oct. 13-30) at Chugoku International Center; and Local Administration (Oct. 13-30) at Tohoku International Center.

For the information and communication technology category, the deadline for application forms with complete documentary requirements is on July 21.

Qualifications are as follows: Filipino citizen; 20-35 years old; directly engaged in the related category or field applied for; physically and mentally fit; from the non-military sector; should not have, in principle, stayed or visited Japan; holder of a valid passport; preferably holder of a permanent position and has completed at least two years of service as permanent; and no pending application for scholarship under another study program.
