Ozamiz City topped the most number of Philhealth card-bearing members among the three cities in the province with a whooping 28,352 members, latest statistic from the Philhealth Service Office revealed.
Oroquieta City has 17,740 listed members and Tangub, 11,480.
Of the 14 municipalities, Bonifacio is a topnotcher with 11,354 followed by Jimenez, 9,428; Clarin, 9,087; Tudela, 7,188; Aloran, 7,150; Calamba, 7,128; Lopez Jaena, 6,142; Plaridel, 5,332; Sinacaban, 4,999; Sapang Dalaga, 4,690; and Panaon, 3,930.
Baliangao has 2,325 followed by Concepcion’s 1,836 while Don Victoriano is the last and least with 1,386.
These figures are contained in the list forwarded to PANGUIL BAY MONITOR by Philhealth Service Office head Luz Mecaros and listed those enrolled in Philhealth from the government and private sectors, including the ones classified as non-paying members (NPM), government and private retirees and individually paying members (IPM) or sponsored members.
The bulk of membership from the three cities and 13 towns of this province are composed mostly of IPM’s, except for Don Victoriano where some 128 are from the government, 21 from the private sector and only 34 are listed as IPMs.
In Baliangao, 311 were listed from the government while 254 were from the private, 22 NPMs and 268 IPMs.
Members from the private sector in Ozamiz are greater than those from the government 8,599 to 3,398 while its IPMs tallied 12,826.
This is also noted in Plaridel’s 836 for the private sector compared to 481 from the government and Calamba’s 739 in the private to 512 in the government’s.
Bonifacio also has more members from the private sector with 437 compared to the government’s 399. Clarin pegged 1,120 members from the private against 630 in the government.
On the contrary, Concepcion only has 52 listed members from the government, nine from private, two NPMs and some 1,046 IPMs.
Based also from a Sponsored Program Monthly Monitoring Report (SPMMR) for March 2008 forwarded by Mecaros to this paper, it noted an increase of family beneficiaries for this year in Aloran, Bonifacio, Jimenez, Sinacaban, Panaon, Tudela and Ozamiz.
A decrease is seen in Calamba, Lopez Jaena, Plaridel and Tangub City while Clarin and Oroquieta City retained their numbers from last year’s.
The said report likewise detailed Governor Loreto Leo Ocampos’ sponsorship of 15,787 insurance cards for indigents in Baliangao, Bonifacio, Concepcion, Don Victoriano, Panaon, Sapang Dalaga, Tudela, Tangub and Oroquieta cities.
The SPMMR listed a total of P14,989,860 in premiums for 2007, the biggest coming from Tudela with P3,999,600 followed by Oroquieta with P1,437,600 and Bonifacio, P1,376,280.
All in all, Misamis Occidental posted 141,455 Philhealth members. MICHAEL MEDINA
