Parang to celebrate town feast under new province

PARANG, SHARIFF KABUNSUAN: After many years of celebrating its founding anniversary under Maguindanao, this municipality will celebrate its “Araw ng Parang” this Aug. 18 under the newly created province of Shariff Kabunsuan.

Bai Amelia Abo, municipal administrator said that under the newly created province, the 11 towns will now have a boost in infrastructure development with the leadership of officer -in -charge (OIC) Gov. Bai Noraya Ambolodto Sinsuat.

Abo said that under the present set-up, traveling to the governor’s office at Datu Odin Sinsuat will be shortened and transactions will only consume less than the former.

The Comelec has yet to proclaim the winning provincial governor of Shariff Kabunsuan. The two candidates were identified as ex-governor Bimbo Sinsuat and former mayor Michael Mastura of Sultan Kudarat were

OIC governor Sinsuat is the concurrent cashier of the DPWH-ARMM and was appointed by ARMM Gov. Zaldy Ampatuan after the Comelec failed to proclaim the elected governor because of elections controversy.

In line activities with the “Araw ng Parang,” Abo said they have lined up several activities like the Kasalan ng Bayan, Banca racing, kulentang competition and the different pastel cooking competition.

Pastel is Maguindanao's delicacy of rice and viand wrapped in banana leaves.

Former Maguindanao Rep. Didagen “Digs” Delangalen will be the special guest of the event.

"I called on the populace to participate in the different competition and lets forget the issue on politics,let unite for the abetter Parang,” Abo said.

The daughter of Mayor Talib Abo likewise said that their place is enjoying tranquil of peace and order because of the assistance of the law enforcement agency such as the PNP, which launched last February the "text emergency movement" which helped a lot in the condition of Parang.
