Free clinic for dialysis patients

PAGADIAN CITY: The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) in Manila is sending three of its nephrologists to the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Hospital here to conduct free clinic to patients with kidney failure.

Nephrology is the science that deals with the kidneys, especially their functions or diseases. Nephrologists are doctors specializing in kidney ailments.

Two of the three nephrologists are Doctors Arlene Monuz, Richard Hizon.

KNTI Executive Enrique Ona, who was instrumental of the establishment of a Dialysis center in the province, said the nephrologists will operate the five units of dialysis machines recently donated by NKTI. They will be here on a weekly basis.

Dr. Atilano A. Ocampos, chief of the Provincial Hospital said that the visiting nephrologists are set to conduct free clinics from Aug. 13 to Aug. 27.

He enjoined those who want to avail of the dialysis service to visit the provincial hospital and attend the orientation this Aug. 14.

Ocampos added that this is good news to Zambosurians, especially to those suffering from kidney ailments who want to avail of cheap dialysis service at their hospital.
