PAGADIAN CITY: Barely a month away into the 2007 WOW ZamPen Regional Tourism Showcase, Gov. Aurora Cerilles is busy enjoining small and medium business along with other stakeholders in the province to help her agenda for tourism development in the province.
“The reinforcement of tourism initiatives of the Province highlights the setting up of the Provincial Government Complex Tourist Zone,” Cerilles said during her attendance at the Small Medium Development Plan Harmonization Workshop initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry provincial office last Aug. 9.
A Cultural Village that showcases the tri-people’s culture, a conceptualized flower gardens, an Adventure and Eco Camp, Canopy walk and the Zip line, including the “Biyahe Na!” site are there for the municipalities to showcase and promote their products, Cerilles added.
The governor added that she will reestablish the Provincial Museum in coordination with the National Museum by next year.
The ongoing construction of the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center, is also situated in the same complex. As part of medical tourism, the hospital will be furnished with state-of-the-art facilities.
Cerilles emphasized that Zamboanga del Sur, being the host of the “Biyahe Na Regional Showcase” has made its best in enhancing its tourism industry. “We are steadfastly working out the development of high standard sustainable tourism activities in the different areas of the province,” she said.
Cerilles noted that she is preparing tour packages for tourists who want to visit Mt. Timolan Protected Landscape, Guipos Cave and Resort, Lakewood Cruise, Scuba Diving in Tukuran, Bibilik and Tabina – dubbed as a world class dive site.
Panikian Island is another potential tourist destination as well as Triton Island of Vincenzo Sagun.
She hopes that by next month, the tour packages of these four Tourism destinations can be marketable, in time with the celebration of the Province’s 55th Anniversary at the same time hosting
The 2007 WOW ZamPen Regional Tourism Showcase is slated Sept. 17-26.
