CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: THE First Cagayan de Oro Golden Float Competition “Beyond the Usual” will be staged for the first time on Aug. 27.
The usual civic and military parade will be replaced by the float competition, which is open to all secondary schools, colleges, universities and other interested organizations.
Department of Tourism-10 Reg. Dir. Catalino Chan III, chair of the golden float parade committee, disclosed that the activity is one of the most spectacular events that the Promote CDO Foundation has lined up for the Kagay-an Festival 2007.
Chan explained that the competing floats will depict a conceptualized drama recounting history, an activity and a cultural or corporate event of the city.
The floats should be corporate-based with gold as the dominant color making up 80 percent of the whole float. The measurement of the float is not more than 10 meters long and not more than 3 meters wide, he said.
The parade will start at 8:00 a.m. at the Limketkai Center grounds fronting Mindanao Polytechnic State College passing through CM Recto Avenue all the way to Apolinar Velez Street to Tirso Neri Street, Capistrano Street and will end at the Gaston Park.
