COP banters with media bigwigs

ACTING city police chief C/Supt. Jovie Espenido shared laughter and answered candid queries from media, Sunday, Feb. 26, bearing out few of the issues in the city in connection with police work.
.
Espenido was the guest speaker of the free-for-all PNP-Media relations forum hosted by the Misamis Occidental Media Practitioners Society, Inc. (MOMPS) at Naomis Botanical Gardens.
.
He emphasized the PNP’s strong rapport with media is important as his office wants the public to know that the police is working and their successful efforts are made known through the media.
.
“Let bygones be bygones if we are for change,” he said, marking out the contemporary quiet picture of the city today as compared to its past.
.
The police colonel was formerly assigned as Albuera, Leyte’s PNP chief before he was transferred here last Dec. 8.
.
He was tagged then as among the narco-cops paid by Kerwin Espinosa during the Senate probe on the death of his father Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr.
.
A Philippine Preview source in Manila said PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa himself believed Espenido was an aggressive fighter against illegal drugs in Region 8 and the association of the police chief came as a big surprise.
.
Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. earlier praised Espenido as he said the police chief, so far, is doing good and effectively in helping the city government fight the drug trade.
.
The police official disclosed his devotion to his work and his trim and tidy labor in the PNP, including his policemen, is due to “being prayerful before and after work.”
.
In the forum, he said he does not want people to show the lack of respect to the police as he said the police force also stick to the rule of maximum tolerance to the people they serve.
.
He likewise said the PNP makes sure no human rights are violated during police raids and arrests along with dishonesty in service, adding he goes out of his way in making these things come to reality.
.
Meanwhile, both Leoncio Medallo of Ronda Balita-Lumad TV and Noel Visitacion of Radyo ng Bayan-Tangub gave their thumbs up to Espenido for being composed with the media as Expedita Roxas of MBC-TV and MOMPS president, thanked the police chief for bringing success to the first media development of MOMPS.
