Cagayan de oro city: want
a new sports utility vehicle? Name it, and we have it.
Second
District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez was gnashing his teeth at information leaked to
him saying the province of Misamis Oriental is being used as a “transshipment
point” for smuggled luxurious cars.
In
a Nov. 22 report by DxRU-Radio Ultra, it understood Rodriguez’s annoyance on
the information and tagged its headline “palusot,” which pinpointed on the
smuggled cars being shipped through the Mindanao International Container
Terminal (MICT).
According
to the DxRU report, the magnificent cars comes clandestinely shipped to MICT,
in Tagoloan town, from Italy and the United Arab Emirates.
It
then quoted Rodriguez naming the SUVs as Toyota land cruiser, Prado, Mercedez, BMW
and Range Rovers, among others.
Rodriguez
said his informants at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) told him said vehicles
failed to show the required documents.
The
congressman disclosed he passed a resolution in the House calling for an
investigation on the matter.
But
BOC-10 chief of administration Atty. Roswald Joseph Pague said Rodriguez’s
report is untrue.
Pague’s
counter also came out in DxRU few days later, who viewed the congressman’s
statement as a “lie.”
“Kini
ang giklaro ni Atty. Roswald Joseph Pague,” DxRU quoted, adding “makonsidera
lang ang usa ka kargamento nga smuggled kon wala kini mi-agi sa ilang pantalan
ug wala madeklara sa insakto nga kargamento.”
