PAGADIAN CITY: Pinoy
bantamweight Marvin “Good Boy” Mabait virtually is at the crossroad of having
more hope of finding his own version of ‘The American Dream.’
This, after the
Zamboanga City native suffered a TKO in the hands of WBC world super flyweight
champion Carlos Cuadras.
The 26-year-old fighter
was knocked down three times by his Mexican foe before referee Eddie Claudio
stopped the contest at the 0:36 mark of round six.
Mabait was under the
training guidance of Nonito Donaire Sr. since he arrived in the United States
last year as a late replacement in the world title bout of another Pinoy fighter
Sonny Boy Jaro.
The “Chavacano Disaster,”
Mabait’s other boxing alias, possesses a second consecutive stoppage defeat as
his record fell to 19-3-2 with 13 knockouts while Cuadras improved to 31-0-1
with 25 knockouts.
