THE provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has released the list of winners in the annual search for the cleanest establishment and eating places in Pagadian.
DTI Prov. Dir. Marichu Malate-Atay said the selection of the cleanest establishment is done every October timed during the celebration of National Consumer Month by ConsumerNet member agencies and in collaboration with the Pagadian City Consumers Association Inc.
The National Consumer Month is celebrated yearly pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 1098 dated Sept. 26, 1997 and signed by then President Fidel Ramos.
For this year, the DOH is the lead agency of the month-long activities and this year’s theme is “Generic Drugs: Gawang Pinoy! Galing Pinoy! Tangkilikin Natin!”
The theme is anchored on the government’s policy to protect public health and to adopt appropriate measures to promote and ensure access to affordable quality drugs and medicine to the public, Atay explains.
The annual search for the cleanest establishment and eating places in Pagadian included various hotels and restaurants, bakeshops and carenderias.
For the Hotel and Restaurant Category, Pagadian Bay Plaza Hotel came first followed by Hotel Alindahaw and Hotel Guillermo.
For the Food Chain Category (Franchise), Jollibee Pagadian–Gaisano Capital is first, then Greenwich Pizza and Jollibee Pagadian–Main Branch.
For Restaurant – Category A, its Best Emporium Fast Food, followed by 22 Green House and Fishing Station and Sam’s Fast Food.
In the Bakeshop – Category A, ALC Butterbun Bakeshop is first, Julies Bakeshop–Branch 2 is second and Sam’s Bakeshop is third while in Bakeshop – Category B, Merjulyn Bakeshop is first, followed by Golda’s – Branch 1 and Golda’s – Main.
In Carenderia – Category A, its Rania Kusina Halal, Spicy Food Haus @ Nanay Deus and KG Food Junction while in Carenderia – Category B, PACIGEA is first, then E & L Lapaz Bachoy and third is Lester Eatery.
Also, Rosette’s Food Court and Rosette’s Bakeshop received its A Hall of Fame Award for sustaining its cleanliness for the past three successive years.
Atay said the month long observance is aimed at increasing the awareness of every Filipino of his rights and responsibilities as a consumer.
“Vital to the consumers welfare is to inform them of their eight basic rights which includes the right to basic needs, right to safety, right to information, right to choose, right to representation, right to redress, right to consumer education and the right to healthy environment,” she said.
