Ace Durano wants Lakewood in tourism map

TOURISM Sec. Joseph Ace Durano said he was impressed with the beauty and the view of Lakewood that he suggested to put the Lakeview Resort in the tourism map.

Durano, who visited the place with Gov. Aurora Cerilles last Sept. 11 for the opening of the 2009 Megayon Festival, advised Cerilles to continue developing the area and push for it’s promotion.

The tourism secretary added that he will help the province in promoting Lakewood when he gets back to Manila and further promised to provide support infrastructures to the said tourism destination.

The Lakeview Resort has been included as one of the points of interest in the tourism package of Zambosur, with its lake cruising and floating restaurant.

A pamphlet about the site explains that the place is best visited before the sun sets and when the night falls; the tranquility is only disturbed by the hummings of insects.

“At daybreak, one can feel the cool mountain breeze and witness the fog slowly moving down the lake from the nearby mountains,” the pamphlet information continued.

Back to Durano, he further stated that he was also impressed with the production number of the Melengas Dance Ensemble when he saw them perform at the Megayon Cultural Village that he invited them to perform in Manila this November.

Zamboanga del Sur celebrated its 57th founding anniversary last Sept. 11-17.
