PGO reports mid-year feats

THE Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO) once again laid open all its accomplishments for the past five months during last Monday’s flag raising ceremony at the Capitol grounds.

Executive Assistant Tyrone Singgo reported the positive gains of the PGO and its 14 divisions, to include the Barangay Affairs Office (BAO), Nutrition Office, Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Provincial Cooperative Office, Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) and the Provincial Press Bureau, among others.

Other existing offices under PGO are the Provincial Jail, Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (LENRO), Capitol Canteen, Salug Valley Development Council, Illana Bay Regional Alliance IX, Provincial Communication System, Zero Waste Management Office, and Provincial Management Information System.

Singgo highlighted PGO’s support to socio-economic development efforts of Gov. Aurora Cerilles and her advocacy of total human development and the eradication of illegal drugs by 2010.

In the first six month, LENRO collected P5,316,312.52 from 669 permittees of small scale mining, delivery trucks and vans, sand and gravel, power saw and amusement tax like cockpits.

The Capitol Canteen, on the other hand, gained a total net profit of P631,067.29 from catering food services to the various meetings held at the Provincial Capitol.

The Cassava Livelihood Program undertaken by BAO, 5,319.78 hectares were planted with cassava by 40,714 farmers, producing a total of 3,502,325 kilos of cassava chips and an overall P24.5 million in income to farmers.

As to PGO-PESO, it hired a total of 176 provincial-paid teachers and employed 314 students for SPES last summer.

In compliance with RA 9003, the Zero Waste Management Office has formalized partnerships with 11 up-scaling LGUs with MOA and has collaborated with active recovery and recycling facilities in the community.

In tourism efforts, the PTO has linked with 26 LGUs in conducting ocular inspections to potential tourism destinations provincewide. The said office likewise is creating the so-called Tourism Swing where 26 towns are grouped into health and wellness, tranquility of the Springs in Salug Valley, adventure tourism and ZamboSur dive clusters.

IBRA-9, through the Fishery Law Enforcement Team, has arrested 22 violators and facilitated mangrove planting and replanting efforts in Tukuran and Labangan with 4,400 trees.

At present, PGO employees are busy with the preparation of the 57th Founding Anniversary of the Province and its major event called the Megayon Festival.
Singgo urged fellow workers to work to the fullest with integrity so that the mandate of the people will be delivered.
