Dolorfino takes break in Tabak

LABANGAN, ZAMBOSUR--Major General Mohammad “Ben” Dolorfino, newly installed chief of the Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM), visited the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, July 27.

The Tabak headquarters, based in Kuta Major Cesar Sang-an, Pulacan, this town, is headed by MGen Romeo Lustestica.

Upon his arrival, Dolorfino was tendered with traditional military honors held at the division parade ground.

Then he proceeded at the Heroes Memorial Marker for wreath laying ceremony in paying tribute to the fallen soldiers.

A briefing followed at the Command Conference Room with members of the general and special staff and unit commanders.

Dolorfino laid out his concept of command, which he said is people-oriented and professionally military that is committed to the promotion of peace, progress and development.

The general added that in serving the people, there must be partnership, combination of efforts, collaboration and extension of interaction with the stakeholders, including LGUs, NGOs, and any other groups.

Likewise, the army leader pointed out the importance of their alliance with the PNP and other paramilitary forces existing in the area of responsibility in the conduct of internal security operations.

As people-oriented soldiers, one’s loyalty should be to the Filipino people regardless of political beliefs, religion and ethnic identity, he said, and as a professional soldier, once must be competent, responsible and a dedicate one.

The soldier should maintain human security, wherein people and their institution are free from armed violence and free to engage in productive enterprises with their civil liberties and human rights respected at all times.

Aside from that, citizens’ way of life and environment should always be protected and enhanced. That is why in every performance of one’s duty; human security teamwork must be considered, Dolorfino added.

He said that under his command, there will be broadened civil-military operations (CMO) and not as much of combat operations.

He clarified, however, that it doesn’t mean a reduction in terms of the combat operations but that the military will stay poised with their operational tempo intensified against the Al-Qaeda cell groups in Mindanao.

With CMO, Dolorfino says they will be expanding their participation in nation-building.

As the third Commander of WESMINCOM, Dolorfino, who belongs to PMA Class of 1976, took his post last July 16, replacing his mistah, Lt. Gen. Nelson Allaga, who is set to retire late this year.

The general is a former commander of the 2nd Marine Brigade; Commander of the Joint Task Force “RANAO”; head of the National Capital Region Command; and former commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps.
