SURIGAO CITY—A still unidentified armed men reportedly abducted a wealthy businessman and owner of the Placer Rural Bank the other night from his home at Ceniza Heights Subdivision, this city.

Sketchy reports from the city police office claimed the armed men burgled Johnson Cuiting’s home, 9:30 p.m., taking the victim’s money, jewelries and personal belongings.

It was not known why the burglars decided to bring along the victim as they fled with the rich man’s Fortuner.

Police Inspector Alejandro Resimo of Placer said they received a phone call from the Cuiting family that evening informing them of the kidnapping.

Resimo said he immediately ordered his men to conduct blocking checkpoints along the national hiighway to possibly hold the vehicle used by the suspects.

Manhunt operations were also ordered after witnesses told policemen that an abandoned vehicle was found in the morning of Jan. 8 along the national highway going to Placer.

Policemen told this paper that the suspects might have switched to another waiting vehicle, as no pronouncements can yet be gathered from Caraga Police C/Supt. Jiame Elorita Milla related to the incident.
