President Gloria Arroyo has instructed DA Sec. Arthur Yap to hasten the allocation of the funding for the farm-to-market road development of eastern Bobongan in Ramon Magsaysay to Sominot and Midsalip.
Governor Aurora Cerilles revealed this the other day after the President noticed the unpaved 11.9-kilometer road during her windshield inspection, Jan. 5.
Midsalip and Sominot are both classified as fourth-class municipalities, which means that in the average annual income actually realized during the last four calendar years, these towns obtain only an average annual income of P3 million or more.
Cerilles said that her trip with Arroyo that day was rewarding after Arroyo chose to go by land cruise and pronounced the need to pave the rough and potholed roads with concrete.
“We’ve had this experience before, last September 2008, as we drove through the Dimataling-Pitogo-Tabina roads. It was the same uncomfortable ride,” Cerilles recalls.
Well, the President wanted the concreting to start as soon as possible, by February, as she consigned to give P30-million for the concreting of the remaining 2.5 kilometers of the Dimataling-Pitogo provincial road.
Next will be the asphalt concreting of the Dimataling-Tabina road, covering some six kilometers, Cerilles said.
During her visit in Midsalip, Arroyo awarded a certificate of project turnover of the improvement of a farm-to-market road in Matalang and another P1.5-million check for rehabilitation of the Matalang-Pisompongan road.
She also gave a total of P2.5-million in checks in livelihood assistance to 11 people’s organizations in the municipality.
Congressman Antonio Cerilles hoped that maybe next time, in the future; Arroyo might choose to have an appointment to visit Josefina, Vincenzo Sagun, San Pablo and Lapuyan.
Arroyo has been a frequent visitor and guest of Zambosur, during its two past celebrations of the Megayon Festival and last week’s visit.
