BUTUAN CITY—Peace remaines an elusive dream unless unabated and lasting corruption will be eradicated if not minimized, newly formed “A Call for Transparency” group said.
The group also challenged media “to advocate the fight against malignant corruption woes in almost all government agencies, private and public institutions.”
They added that media and religious institutions should also check its ranks for the social malaise creeping into mental and physical faculties of every Filipinos nowadays.
Divina Punonghari “A Call for Transparency” Caraga chapter regional officer, claimed the problem facing society today is not only material corruption but also dishonesty because of widespread hypocrisies eating up moral fiber of the nation.
Punonghari claimed the church, moral groups and the civil society itself failed to address the defective social norms saying from the start the malignant social cancer already affected political and church leaders.
“No one really stood up for the truth no matter what the consequence are,” she said.
The group claimed they are deeply concerned what lies ahead of the Filipino children and future generations in a midst of what they described as “the dog-eat-dog kind of society” wherein the influential, those with guns, money and influence are the ones who survive.”
“This will create trouble because in the end the troubled masses of Filipino poor consisting majority of the population will rise because of unbearable circumstances that will leave them no choice except to exert for survival, this kind of scenario we pray won’t happened,” the group said their statement.
“The problem is nobody is tackling these sensitive issues that makes us all look like fools, we never learned lessons as we allow these practices to go on damaging wantonly our environment because of unabated cutting of trees while depriving cash starved government of much needed taxes,” the group said.
“Our country is not poor because we have everything enough to feed and educate Filipinos what we are lacking are brave Filipinos to stood up and say enough is enough and hanged upside down the corrupt officials,” the group concluded.
