DepEd exec lauds Aldong, Nova for good deed

OZAMIZ CITY--a top DepEd official praised Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. and daughter, first Councilor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez, for the gift of thousands of bags containing school supplies to elementary graders distributed to various schools here.

Schools Division Assistant Superintendent Jonathan de la Peña admired the two officials with the words: “Only in Ozamiz City I witnessed the heart of a father and daughter working together to promote education and fight poverty through education by assisting poor parents in sending their children to school.”

De la Pena accompanied Echavez in doing her rounds to the different schools in the city for the distribution of the school supplies.

Echavez has been doing this deed to all pupils of public elementary schools in the city since she was yet a private citizen, says City Information Officer Elena Pelare, bringing with her bags containing school supplies.

Well, Echavez reinforced her father’s deed, who was doing it since 1997 when he was still the chair of the Liga ng mga Barangay.

At present, both dispersed their gifts to elementary schools located in the rural barangays and also to those in the city proper and in the coastal barangays.

De la Pena hopes the children who were blessed with the gifts from the Parojinogs would make good use out of it and do the best of their schooling.

“It is DepEd’s role to help bring peace to Mindanao. We believe that peace can be easily achieved if everyone is educated,” he said.
