Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. (CCBPI) and Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP) tandem for the “Go Green, Go for the Real Thing project.”
An active member of the Corporate Network for Disaster Response, which implements proactive programs for disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness, CCBPI will give P20 for each tree planted by a boy scout.
BSP Council member and board member Rogelio Saniel echoed this development to scout masters and trainers during their annual meeting here.
Saniel reported that in his representation of BSP Zambosur Council President Ace William Cerilles to the Asia Pacific Region Communication Workshop in Tagaytay City last June, he took the opportunity to manifest the inclusion of the province to the said project.
Saniel then was sent by BSP Regional Director Petronilo Pardillo to join other Boy Scout public relations commissioners from 21 Asia Pacific countries and there, he noted the so-called best practices of scouting movements in India, Thailand and Indonesia.
Inspired, the board member said there is a need to revive the scouting movement in the Philippines and ZamboSur should lead in stimulating students to scouting.
He said he understood the worries of parents in sending their boys to scouting jamborees because of the P40 registration fee and its tricks and trades, which the children have no knowledge of.
“Let’s make scouting movement sexy and appealing,” Saniel remarked in his inspirational message.
Back to the “Go Green; Go for the Real Thing” project, Saniel urged scout masters to put up nurseries in their school yards, get paid by CCBPI and use the money for their boy scout activities.
Mahogany tree seedlings are preferred by CCBPI to be planted, Saniel said, as he added the soft drink company has allotted P10-million for the said endeavor.
