TANGUB CITY—The City Nutrition Council (CNC) is focusing its efforts in helping pregnant women or would-be mothers get the best nutrition for themselves and their babies.

This move is in connection with the nationwide celebration of July as “Nutrition Month” carrying the theme, “Sa Wastong Nutrisyon ni Mommy, Siguradong Healthy si Baby.”

City Social and Welfare Development (CSWD) Officer Virgilita de los Santos said the program is easily attainable with the help of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in this city’s 55 villages.

To emphasize the importance of proper health and nutrition among pregnant mothers and their babies, a series of symposium will be made all around city barangays starting this week.

De los Santos believes intensive information and education to mothers will encourage wider participation among people in villages regarding the Barangay Nutrition Program (BNP).

On the culmination of the Nutrition Month, a search for “Most Healthy Pregnant Women” and “Outstanding BNS” will be conducted.

For his part, City Health Officer, Dr. Gregorio Regidor advises women to eat complete, nutritious and balanced foods and have their blood pressure monitored at all times.

Regidor said his office will help in BNP’s implementation by deworming children and supplying them with the needed vitamins so that there will be “zero malnourishment” in all Tangub barangays.
