Tangub City--The city goverment implements its scheme in distributing and selling NFA rice to its 55 barangays under the Provincial Rice Task Force Program.

The local government is now doing the selling of NFA rice, acquiring the allocation from the NFA office then sells this to consumers in the barangays.

But Mayor Jennifer Tan wants to be sure first, ordering the village heads to review and evaluate if the beneficiaries are those classified as the poorest of the poor or those who are not listed in the Bigasan ng Parokya and Tindahan Natin outlets.

At present, nine Tindahan Natin (TN) outlets are operated and managed by womens organizations here, with TN outlets exclusively selling NFa rice to 250 benefeciaries at two kilos per week.

There is also a Bigasan ng Parokya in Birhen sa Kalooy Parish at Pangabuan.

Starting last week, NFA rice is sold at four kilos for every beneficiary at P18.25 per kilo.

The NFA has allocated some 2,075 bags to the city after a memoramdum of agreement (MOA) was signed between the NFA and the Provincial Government.

The said number is part and parcel of the total 21,000 bags to be delivered by NFA to Misamis Occidental, pursuant to the MOA.
