OZAMIZ CITY--The provincial and community offices of the environment and natural resources made a string of celebrating June as Environment Month, Environment Management Specialist (EMS) Francisco Tapa said.
Last June 2-6, a “Walk for a Cause” was made around the city participated by 100 delegates coming from various NGOs, peoples’ group and city officials.
An assembly was likewise conducted and attended by officials of villages near the buffer zones of Mt. Malindang Park.
The activity appealed to concerned individuals on the importance of preservation and protection of Mt. Malindang Park.
A mangrove tree-planting activity was launched in Brgy. Mantic, Tangub City, using propaguns tree--the so-called “Tungki or Bakhaw,” participated by DENR and CENR officers and personnel, aimed in rehabilitating the city’s coastal area.
June 10 was “Philippine Eagle Week,” which was joined in by delegates and students from various organizations and schools as a show of support to the information and education campaign in connection with the importance of the ecosystem management.
Participants visited Brgy. Montol of Bonifacio, this province hoping to view the remaining Philippine Eagles found therein.
Management Officer Teresita Candango said that Mayor Samson Dumanjug and barangay officials also awarded, June 12, 101 pre-patent certificate of land titles to CARP beneficiaries in Montol and Poblacion.
Awarding of Land Titles to the CARP beneficiaries is most vital part in celebrating Earth Month since beneficiaries have been waiting for their land titles for more than 20 years already.
CENRO Antonio Mala, al-hadj, also said that by end of this month, “they will synchronize their culmination activity and have consolidation reports passed to the provincial and regional offices.
