PDEA-ARMM’s Orbe bares deeds

COTABATO CITY: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of the Autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) bares its accomplishment for the first quarter of this year with a laudable improvement.

Regional Director Rene Orbe disclosed this information using their comparative data accomplishments from the period of Jan. 1 to June 30 of 2006 and this year.

He said their office arrested more shabu dealers and there was an increase volume of prohibited drugs confiscated this year, as compared to last year.

Orbe added that for the first half of this year, they conducted 55 operations and arrested 130 persons while last year of the same period they only had 20 operations and made 27 arrests.

The volume of drugs seized was only 72.20 grams last year, valued at P144-thousand while for this year they netted some 626.64 grams of shabu, valued at some P2,506,560 and 120 grams of marijuana, valued at P4,800.

Eleven big-time drug lords were likewise arrested by Orbe and his men.

He identified them as ex-policemen Christopher Ortega and Datumanong Laiban; 1st Lt. Michael Baura, PFC Gary Maraingan, DPWH engineer Lomey Lacoto, barangay treasurer Michael Abo, Prof. Datuan Melikano, Rahib Mihammad, Raffy Ulangkaya, a member of the Civilian Volunteer Organization (CVO), Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur Councilor Abdullah Solaiman and Abdulhassan Bombola, a son of the chief of police based in Barira, Maguindanao.
