GENERAL SANTOS CITY: Strong winds caused by a blustery weather formed a “baby twister” last Aug. 14, hitting barangays Sinawal, Apopong and Mabuhay and caused massive power interruption in SOCOTECO II's nine power line feeders.
According to PAGASA, the "baby twister" speed reached 17 kilometers per second.
SOCOTECO II telephone hotlines were flooded with calls after power was interrupted due to fallen trees and cut lines.
Engineer Crisanto Sotelo, TSD manager said power was immediately restored two hours after in the affected feeders, identified as Feeders 1-1 to 1-5 of New Society substation and Feeders 7-1 to 7-4 of Ligaya substation.
These feeders service a large number of residential and commercial establishments.
SOCOTECO II technical personnel said that the wind is usually not that strong to topple their wooden or concrete poles.
