REVEREND Father Maximino “Boy” Naron Jr. is the new vicar general of the Ozamiz archdiocese, replacing the late Msgr. Emie Bienes who died of liver cancer.
Archbishop Jesus Dosado announced his appointment of Naron last Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the clergy meeting held at St. Vincent Parish in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.
In the Roman Catholic Church, a vicar general is appointed by the bishop as the highest administrative officer of the diocese, with most of the powers of the bishop.
The 50-year old Naron is a canon lawyer and chancellor, with duties related to justice. He hails from Pangabuan, Tangub City.
He was ordained priest in April 19, 1985 and took his specialized studies on the laws and legal systems of the Roman Church at the Faculty of Canon Law; Licentiate of Philosophy faculty and Bachelor of Sacred Theology in the University of Sto. Thomas, Manila.
After ordination, he was appointed as assistant parish priest in the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish and in 1987, he was appointed as assistant parish priest at the Holy Child Parish in Oroquieta City.
