Huge crowd witness Christmas Symbols opening

TANGUB CITY—An estimated crowd of 15,000 witnessed the Christmas Symbols Festival opening and lighting ceremonies, Dec. 1 at the City Plaza.

This year’s Christmas-themed exhibit is the 16th for Tangub City, dubbed the “Christmas Symbols Capital of the Philippines.”

Mayor Jennifer Tan said the Christmas Symbol Festival is a gift to all families and individuals who want to see the value of unity and ingenuity.

Visiting Tangub City at this time of the year is also an ideal time and place for families to spend time quality time together without spending much, the mayor added.

Tan’s husband, City Tourism Council chair Philip Tan thanked the city folks, especially the village officials and government employees who chipped in money and effort to come up with this year’s presentation.

“Wala ko mag-expect og maayo kaayo nga presentation because of the economic crisis. Pero tungod sa pagtoo sa mga taga-Tangub nga there is always hope, it made us ever strong and everyone gave his share,” he said.

For his part, Gov. Loreto Leo Ocampos declared that the yearly Christmas Symbol Festival is an activity that do not need any classified ad or advertisement posters because people come at will and witness the event every year.

Tourism regional director Catalino Chan said that wherever he goes, he never fails to mention and promote the Christmas Symbols Festival to other people.

The opening night was peaceful, committee on peace and order chair Councilor Ernestro Narido said, even as he assured visitors that authorities are keeping tab the whole month for all suspicious characters and untoward incidents.

The Christmas Symbols Festival opening and lighting ceremonies ended with a 15-minute fireworks display.
