OROQUIETA CITY: Governor Ocampos recently disclosed that the Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP)-Advisory Committee has approved a P12-million project that would concentrate in the upscaling of rubber plantation in the hinterlands of Mt. Malindang, particularly those parts of Bonifacio, Don Victoriano and Concepcion

“More blessings are poured in to Misamis Occidental”, Ocampos declared.

It is estimated that a total of 283 hectares of rubber with about 113, 200 trees will be planted once the project starts.

The project, according to Ocampos will also involve the provision of intercrops, revitalization of Bantay Lasang Volunteers, Conservation of Environment Awareness and Protection Centers in the 3 municipalities and various capacity building trainings for the identified beneficiaries.

The approval, added the governor, was made during the first committee meeting of the PACAP advisory Committee held in Catarman, Northern Samar, last June 19-21, where he attended as member of the approving committee.

It was learned from Ocampos that the PACAP, through Project Officer Jose Roy Verallo has given P80-million to the povince for funding of various projects initiated by the governor, including the "Save the Labo River Project" in Ozamiz City.

PACAP Advisory Committee is PACAP’s governing body responsible for the operational governance of the whole program including strategic direction, Focal Community Assistance Scheme (FOCAS) selection and project approval.

During the committee meeting in Catarman, PACAP Program Director David Swete Kelly said that Ocampos' participation as member of the Advisory Committee made a large contribution in reviewing quality projects not only of FOCAS provinces but also of Responsive Activity Scheme (RAS) provinces as well.

Ocampos likewise stressed out that PACAP’s presence in the province is truly a blessing to Misamis Occidental, same as other AUSAID foreign projects like PALS, PATSSARD, and PAHRDF in which the Provincial Government is sharing a flourishing partnership.

“With all these blessings, the best equity the province can give is the integrity, credibility and commitment of the Misamisnons especially among provincial officials."
