CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: IN line with the 2007 National Census to be conducted in August this year, Mayor Constantino Jaraula is calling on all barangay chairmen in Cagayan de Oro City’s 80 barangays to mobilize their respective communities to ensure the success of the activity.
This after Jaraula issued Memorandum 2007 CGJ 010 to all barangay chairmen to regulary update their records of barangay inhabitants on a quarterly basis, in preparation for the 2007 Census of Population and submit it to the local office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
He said that there is a need to update the information regarding the count of the country’s population and some of its demographic and socio-economic characteristics.
The mayor likewise called on all the residents of the city to support and cooperate during the actual census, which will be conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO) by virtue of Executive Order No. 121-Reorganization Act of the Philippine Statistical System.
Under the executive order, the city must establish a Census Coordinating Board, which will be composed of the city mayor as chair, city schools division superintendent as vice-chairperson, PNP station commander, city planning and development officer, city population program officer, city assessor, city civil registrar, private sector and district statistics officer.
