CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: IN consonance with his intention to establish order and safety in the streets, Mayor Constantino Jaraula has appointed former executive director of the Police National Training Institute, retired Police S/Supt. Filipino Amoguis as administrator of the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA).
Jaraula administered Amoguis' oath of office in a simple ceremony witnessed by some officials of the city government and representatives from the local media at the City Mayor's Office.
Jaraula is optimistic that with Amoguis at the helm of the city traffic administration, the city government can achieve its goal of providing a solution to the traffic woes that beset a metropolitan city that Cagayan de Oro has become.
"I want our new RTA administrator to coordinate the entire traffic system being part of the over-all peace and order network in the city," Jaraula said.
The city mayor hoped that with his appointment of Amoguis, the city government can improve the close coordination between the local police and the city's traffic enforcers.
Amoguis said that among his agenda as RTA chief is to study the complete restructuring of the local traffic system as envisioned by Mayor Jaraula.
Amoguis added that he will set to initiate a series of workshops and seminars, not only for the local drivers, but also for the traffic enforcers of the RTA with the end goal of heightening the level of awareness and education of the enforcers and drivers on the traffic rules and regulations.
