GENSAN CITY: THE Notre Dame of Dadiangas University and the Kalimudan Culture and Arts Center, together with the Kalinawa Art Foundation formally inaugurated the Indigeous People's Visual Art Exhibition, Internet Auction and Competition last Saturday, July 28 at the Bro. This exhibit which is on its 7th inception after similar ventures in other cities, features artworks from various indigenous people of Socsksargen. These pieces were then put up for sale at the Internet at websites http://www.ebay.com/ and http://www.kalinawa.com/.

Aside than these shows being showcases which highlight the continuity of traditional arts so vital to the lumad's identity and culture, they also serve as means to provide them with a springboard to further hone their skills, promote their work and earn from their output.

Also present during the opening were Gensan Mayor Pedro Acharon, Jr., BEAM Chairman Dr. Leticial Cabang, former city Councilor Lourdes Casabuena, Mr. Arturo Lawa of the IP Council, former party-list representative Mario Aguha and Mrs. Herlina CastaƱes of MSU among others.

Winners of the contest were announced last July 30 while the exhibit will run until August 1.
